- Life looks really different than how we once imagined it would, and we know we’re not alone in this. Maybe you never got to have the things you wanted, or maybe you got everything you thought you wanted, but things still feel empty. Whatever the situation or the circumstance, there’s a real grief surrounding it all. But there’s nothing wrong with that sadness, and when we learn to make peace with it, we can make the best of whatever comes next. That’s how we turn this shit-show into the Best Life. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again.

This era of the internet is shaping out to be all about the personal brand, and one way we see people doing that is by sharing some really, really personal things about themselves (no exaggeration about that butthole thing). So if we need to share personal things to build our personal brands, at what point does the sharing become too much? Does the line exist at all? You already know everything about us, Bestie, but we’re not sure that the rest of the world is ready to hear some of the things we have to say.

Now we’re well into our 40’s and while we don’t feel ancient yet, we are starting to see the appeal of having a mid-life crisis. Life is short, but it’s long as hell at the very same time, so if we’re just getting to the half way point… what else is there to do out there? While we contemplate getting doctorates and Porsches, we’ll do our best to feel young.

It’s easy to maintain a friendship when you see each other often, but it’s taken real and deliberate effort to stay close emotionally even though we’re physically far apart. A big part of our friendship has been in part due to you, Bestie, and we’ll never forget it. Thank you for being a listener.

Plenty of women are lonely, too, and lonely inside of their marriages and relationships. Women have been holding things down for a long time, and most of us are just tired and resentful now. For us, our saving grace is usually our friendships, but our male counterparts aren’t turning to friends the same way. What it comes down to is this: we all need varied relationships with lots of people, and the care it takes to build those relationships isn’t always easy. That goes for men and women. But that’s why we’re so happy we have you, Bestie. You just get us.
