Nearly every man either carries or is closely connected to a device that constantly asks him: what do you think? What's happening? Are you watching? How will you respond or react? 

It's not just that we're being notified constantly, there is a whole infrastructure of daily life built to cost you something. Miss the news cycle and you feel behind. Don't react to the thing everyone's reacting to and you feel disconnected. Post nothing for a week and some part of you wonders if you still exist to the people who used to see you.

On today's podcast we are going to dive into the word "Quietly" from Paul's charge on what sort of life we should. Once we understand that it is our ambition to live quietly, and what that looks like practically we can see how much energy and time we are allowing to things that really don't matter.

Make it your ambition. We don't put those two words next to each other. Ambition means you're building something loud, a name, a platform, a business, a reputation. Quiet is what you get accused of when you're not doing enough of that.
As we have this conversation I want us to consider: "What does a quiet life actually build, over twenty or thirty years, that the loud life never quite manages to?"

There is nothing wrong with influence.
There is nothing wrong with having a large platform.
There is nothing wrong with being known.
There is nothing wrong with being gifted.
The problem comes when the platform becomes more important than the message.
When the messenger becomes more important than the Gospel.
When people come to church because they want to see someone rather than because they want to encounter God.
When we start building ministries around personalities instead of building people around Christ.
