Getting a PHD in Resilience: Navigating What Life Throws Your Way

    04/09/2026 | 10 mins.
"Life will never give you more than you can handle" is one of the most cliche phrases, I didn't understand until recently. I've endured a lot in my life but for some reason these last 3 weeks I felt like I got another massive lesson in resilience and proof I can handle anything that comes my way.
In this week's episode I share my rollercoaster ride of the last few weeks from an exploded face to complete and utter surrender. I swear I time lined jumped somewhere between "multi month medical treatments" and "we made a mistake, I have good news". I share on how my boundaries helped me in some of the hardest moments as I waited in the void of the unknown with no clue what was happening with my health.
I've been enjoying having chats with you again, I think I'll continue giving you life updates in amongst all the content on boundaries. I want you to live your best life and it starts with boundaries! I'll see you inside gorgeous.

What Peace Feels Like After Survival: It's not what I expected. A life update from yours truly and a peak of the BTS no one speaks about after boundaries & peace becomes reality

    22/08/2026 | 9 mins.
I thought I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. That promise of peace I desperately wanted for years... It wasn't what I expected. In this week's episode I share a life update, how my boundaries are working for me and what peace really looks like for me as a late identified AuDHD mum with 4 neurodivergent kiddies, a nervous system recovering from CPTSD and chronic pain I called normal. A peak behind the curtain if you will, of the realities of doing this work, even with the hardest boundaries of going no contact behind me. See you inside!
Let's connect! Below I have links to my IG, a way to enter my world and for the you who's ready to do the work - the book born of 15 years of me creating the structure for boundaries work, so you have the foundation no one gave me.

The Reason You Word Vomit & What To Do Instead

    07/08/2026 | 8 mins.
The number one response to my question box on IG when I asked "What's ONE thing you would say "no more" to?" was "No more explaining myself". In this week's episode I go into why we tend to over explain ourselves, as neurodivergent women, and what to do instead. I share how to practice reducing the urge to word vomit, that leaves you wondering "WTF was that?!" in both text messages and in conversations. See you inside.

How to Know Your Boundaries Are Actually Working: 3 Signs You're Making Progress Without Realising It

    31/07/2026 | 6 mins.
You've been doing the work. But how do you actually know it's working? This week I'm talking about the signs your boundaries are creating real change in your life, even when your brain is too deep in it to see the progress. I cover the number one signal your boundary is working that most people mistake for a sign they got it wrong, why clearing your doom pile is the perfect metaphor for what happens when you finally shift a draining dynamic, and how you'll know you've been consistent long enough when saying no stops feeling like the end of the world. If you've ever wondered whether any of this is actually making a difference... this episode is for you.

About The Recovery Room
Hi Gorgeous! Welcome inside The Recovery Room, your safe space, as a neurodivergent woman, navigating boundaries inside dysfunctional family dynamics and relationships. I'm your host Gena Georgia and I help you through the wobble of boundary setting. No more being sat there at 3:33am going round in circles in your head about what went down in the family group chat. We don't believe in gaslighting ourselves into thinking we are bad people for wanting peace between our ears around here. You deserve a peaceful life my wonderous sparkly unicorn and we are going to go on this adventure together. I've learned to come through the other side of some pretty had things in my life: SA, drug addiction, domestic violence relationship, dissolving my marriage after he relapsed and following through on the consequences as he earned his way back, watched my son be saved by his medical team and went no contact with both my parents after a lifetime of people pleasing my way for love. My lived experience has seen me have to learn what healthy relationships are and understand when I'm not in one to protect myself. This podcast is my way of sharing what I have learned, so you don't have to take 37 years to figure it out. My mission is simple: to help you create boundaries that help you live a life you can look back on and be proud of; to feel valued and surround yourself with people who see your worth and celebrate it. And it starts with you and we're doing it together. I'm so excited you're here. If you love feeling powerful in your own life, you're gonna love this podcast!
