Chris Stott, Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer & Portfolio Manager of 1851 Capital
Our special guest for this episode is highly regarded, Sydney based fund manager Chris Stott.
Chris earnt his stripes working for some 12 years with funds management luminaries Geoff Wilson and Matthew Kidman and the team at Wilson Asset Management, the majority as Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager responsible for managing the investment team and overseeing the investment portfolios.
He did well. So much so that in 2014, the Australian Financial Review named Chris as one of the Five Best Young Fund Managers in Australia.
In 2019 Chris co-founded 1851 Capital leveraging his 22 years’ experience in the Australian funds management industry, and kicked off his one and only fund at the start of February in 2020. With COVID, unbeknown to Chris, literally around the corner, timing was everything and provides for a fascinating insight into investment portfolio management in very challenging times.
Outside of investment management, Chris is also Deputy Chairman of the foundation of his beloved Sydney AFL team the Sydney Swans.
This certainly is a captivating conversation.
