  • Unpacking Religious Trauma With Shelley Olm
In this episode, I unpack religious trauma with Shelley Olm.  Shelley is a certified Usui Holy Fire III Reiki Master, Sound Bath Facilitator, Master Vibrational Sound Healer, Yoga RYT 500, Advanced Buti Yoga Instructor, AFAA Group fitness instructor and Children’s Book Author. As a lifelong student, there is always more to learn, and she continually strives for more knowledge and experience. Because each situation and every person are different, Shelley likes to combine different healing modalities together depending on what type of healing is needed. This could be anything from placing singing bowls directly on the body in combination with energy work, to breathwork, sound bath, meditation, drumming, and vocal toning. Rooted in her love for Christ and for people, Shelley leads intuitive, Bible-based, spirit-led sound baths designed to nurture the soul and release trauma. Her sound baths are a unique blend of spiritual guidance and healing sound, aiming to uplift and restore every participant. Whether through the resonance of sound or the wisdom of scripture, Shelley is committed to helping others find their inner fire with peace, joy, and deep inner healing. We are vibrational beings; therefore, our body responds to the vibrational quality of sound as it enters the body in waves, balancing the Chakras, removing stuck energy, and opening the body to receive healing energy from the source of all things.  In her spare time, Shelley enjoys spending time with family, writing, and trail running. • When Healing Spaces Are Harmful: What Practitioners Need to Know
In this quick yet powerful episode, we dive into an overlooked topic: the ways harm is being done in the sound healing space and why being a trauma-informed practitioner is non-negotiable. Healing spaces should feel safe, supportive, and empowering, but unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Whether you're a practitioner or someone who receives sound healing, this episode will help you recognize red flags, elevate your awareness, and deepen your commitment to ethical, client-centered healing. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: -The most common ways harm is unintentionally inflicted in healing spaces -Why loud, sharp tones and overstimulation can dysregulate the nervous system -How practitioners may unknowingly exert control over clients instead of empowering them -The importance of moving beyond outdated, rigid frameworks in sound healing -Why trauma-informed training is essential for ethical healing work -How to create a truly safe, regulating, and empowering space for your clients Listen now and take a step toward making sound healing safer and more effective for all.
