The Real Reason You're Still Stuck in Health Anxiety

    07/09/2026 | 10 mins.
Ready to stop battling worry, intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program and Monthly Recovery Coaching at https://anxietyguyprograms.com
    Description:
Health anxiety can become more than a reaction to symptoms. Over time, the mind and nervous system can become conditioned to familiar states of fear, scanning, tension, and survival.
In this episode, Dennis explores the emotional refractory period and how repeated emotional states can keep the system locked into familiar patterns, even when there is no immediate danger. When fear has been practiced for long enough, the body can begin to expect it, the mind can search for reasons to justify it, and ordinary sensations can quickly become interpreted through the lens of threat.
We'll look at why health anxiety can feel so automatic, why reassurance often brings only temporary relief, and how repeatedly checking, monitoring, and anticipating symptoms can reinforce the very state you are trying to escape.
Most importantly, you'll learn why recovery is not simply about convincing yourself that you are safe. It is about gradually teaching your system that it no longer has to return to the same familiar emotional environment of fear and survival.

3 Ways Your Inner Protector Keeps Anxiety Alive

    31/08/2026 | 16 mins.
Ready to stop battling worry, intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program and Monthly Recovery Coaching at https://anxietyguyprograms.com
Description: In today's episode, we explore 3 ways your inner protector may be keeping anxiety alive: worry, anticipation, and regret. Your inner protector is constantly trying to keep you safe, prepared, and in control, but when it becomes overactive, it can keep you trapped in what might happen, what could go wrong, or what you wish you had done differently.
We'll look at how worry feeds uncertainty, anticipation creates fear before anything happens, and regret keeps you emotionally tied to the past. The goal isn't to fight this protective part of you, but to recognize when protection has become overprotection and begin responding with more trust, flexibility, and presence. A powerful question to ask is: "Is this protecting me from something happening right now, or is it trying to protect me from uncertainty?"

Anxiety & Grief: The Missing Piece in Your Recovery

    24/08/2026 | 17 mins.
Ready to stop battling intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program at https://anxietyguyprograms.com.
    Episode Description:
In today's episode, we explore a piece of anxiety recovery that can easily be overlooked: grief. Grief doesn't always arrive as obvious sadness. It can build quietly through years of holding things in, staying strong, pushing forward, suppressing tears, and never fully allowing yourself to acknowledge what hurt.
Over time, that emotional accumulation may show up as tension, exhaustion, nervous system activation, irritability, heaviness, or a sense that your body is carrying more than you consciously realize.
We'll talk about what can happen when grief is finally given permission to move, through acknowledgement, emotional expression, crying, and allowing the younger parts of you to feel what they may never have felt safe enough to express before.
Instead of immediately asking, "How do I get rid of this anxiety?", another powerful question may be:
"What am I still carrying that I never allowed myself to grieve?"
Healing may sometimes involve less fighting and more permission, permission to feel, acknowledge, express, and finally allow what has been held inside for far too long.

Anxiety and Self Abandonment: When Your Body Says "No"

    17/08/2026 | 20 mins.
Ready to stop battling intrusive thoughts, difficult emotions, and nervous system activation? Explore the End The Anxiety Program at https://anxietyguyprograms.com.
Episode Description: In today's episode, we look at how people pleasing, suppressed emotions, performance, and repeatedly overriding your internal "no" may contribute to anxiety, tension, and exhaustion. Instead of always asking, "How do I get rid of this symptom?", try asking, "What did I override?" Safety may not only be calmness; it may also be honesty, expression, boundaries, and living more in alignment with what feels true to you. Ask yourself: "What is my body trying to tell me right now, and what has it been trying to tell me all day?"

Anxiety and Burnout: What Is Your Body Trying to Tell You?

    10/08/2026 | 19 mins.
Ready for more clarity and less confusion around health anxiety? Rebuild trust in your body through daily guidance and nervous system retraining with the Health Anxiety Recovery Program. Start here: https://anxietyguyprograms.com
Today's Episode on Anxiety and Burnout: What Is Your Body Trying to Tell You?
What if some of the exhaustion you experience is not only about how much you are doing, but how much of yourself you are overriding while doing it? In today's episode, we explore the connection between anxiety, burnout, prolonged nervous system activation, people pleasing, emotional suppression, and repeatedly ignoring what your body is communicating. You may wake up feeling tired, tense, dizzy, heavy, or mentally drained and immediately assume you did too much physically. But another question may be more revealing: What did I override?
Maybe you wanted to say no but said yes.
Maybe you felt anger or resentment but stayed quiet.
Maybe you kept performing, pleasing, smiling, or pushing forward while internally bracing.
Over time, constantly overriding these internal signals can become biological work and contribute to prolonged activation. The body may first communicate quietly through tension, irritation, fatigue, resistance, or a simple internal feeling of no. When those signals are repeatedly ignored, the body may begin turning up the volume.
The goal is not to analyze every sensation or allow symptoms to control your life. It is to become more honest and responsive to yourself. Sometimes that means resting, speaking up, asking for help, setting a boundary, or saying no. Other times it means recognizing fear while still moving toward something you genuinely want. Instead of immediately asking, "How do I get rid of this symptom?" ask, "What is my body actually showing me here?" And at the end of the day, ask yourself: "What is my body trying to tell me right now?" and "What has my body been trying to tell me all day?"
